About
us
What
is Kismet?
It is a voluntary and free of cost information source and
informal counsel
for Women and Parents. It was conceived in 1997 and initiated in 1998
by a group of parents and friends in USA, Canada and Pakistan who
have
seen at close hand or experienced failed marriages due to lack of
knowledge about the individuals and life in America with its norms
and
laws. They have decided to share their experiences and lessons learnt,
so that other parents may be wisened in deciding or dealing with similar
situations. Thus ensuring a bright future for their daughters. The
choice
of the word KISMET meaning fate, destiny in English and other languages
(Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Urdu) is symbolic of their wish.
How Does Kismet function?
Kismet though its Web Site in English and pamphlets, brochures and
manuals in English and urdu provides useful information, to parents
deciding about Rishtas from USA/Canada or dealing with consequences
of,
an unhappy marriage in USA or Canada. In case of an abusive marriage
or
other unhappy situations it advises seeking help from expert social
south
Asian organizations and facilitates it, when needed.
Membership
There
is no formal membership but any one with information that would
help is most welcome to contribute and send it to us.
Kismet Helpers
Citizens in different cities in Pakistan and America are our helpers
in
certain circumstances. There have been occasions when information
has
needed verbal elaboration or a family wants some specific matter checked
not listed in our site or documents. They thus give informal counsel.
